Building Better Communities (BBC) exists to link Indiana communities, organizations and businesses with the resources and expertise of Ball State faculty and students.  These connections are a vital part of Ball State’s commitments to advance Indiana and provide dynamic, real-world learning experiences for its students.

BBC staff members across seven locations and affiliated centers include dedicated project managers, economic development professionals and policy experts. With more than 25 years of experience, BBC can effectively match local, regional or state-level challenges with Ball State assets to create practical and innovative solutions.

 ANNOUNCEMENTS

March 26-27: Indiana Campus Compact’s Service Engagement Summit. This yearly event in Indianapolis brings together students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community partners for two days of presentations and workshops from state, national, and local leaders in the field of service and community engagement in higher education.   

May 6-7: Community Development Course, Indianapolis.  This two-day course for community and economic developers is an intense, hands-on, unique educational experience designed to immerse you in a mix of theoretical and practical applications applied to real life situations.  The course covers trends and new approaches in economic development, including community development planning, group facilitation, and community development career management.     

May 28-30: International Symposium on Service-Learning, co-sponsored by Indiana Campus Compact and the University of Indianapolis.  The event, titled “Service-Learning as a Global Interdisciplinary Movement: Transforming Communities and Higher Education” aims to increase the scientific contribution to service-learning, strengthen networks among institutions of higher education and community partners on a global scale, and enhance student-engaged citizenship.
