The BBC Fellows staff hosted their summer/fall 2013 showcase on December 4th in the Student Center Ballroom.  Approximately 300 people attended to talk with students about the outcomes of their immersive learning projects.

Wrap-up of Lilly Funding

In January, the BBC Fellows program wrapped up final reports for the 5-year grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.  The program has gained recognition statewide for building bridges between campus and Indiana communities and will continue as an ongoing program at Ball State. Throughout the first five years of the program, 1,421 students participated in 120 projects with 210 businesses and organizations throughout the state.

Fall 2013 Projects Awards and Recognition

Students from the fall 2013 project Cold Case Homicides:  Making a difference for Families and the System with Bryan Byers (Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology) are getting some great attention in the media.  They created public service announcements about unsolved murder cases across the state with the hope of resolution for the individuals involved in the cases. WTHR recently ran the story, PSA shines light on unsolved 2011 hit-and-run; read it here.

Additionally, students from three past projects received notification that they were fall 2013 Aurora Award winners.  The Aurora Awards are national awards given to video projects that don't have traditional distribution (i.e. broadcast) - in most cases web or social media dissemination.  Check out their winning projects:
