Primacy of Place™ Community Awards

And the winners are...

The 2013 winners have been announced!  Congratulations to the City of Columbus, the City of Valparaiso,  and the Town of Walkerton

Ball State University is recognizing Indiana cities and towns that are committed to placemaking as a means to attract and retain talent. Building Better Communities (BBC) recognizes that traditional economic development approaches are insufficient by themselves to produce sustained quality economic growth.

The Primacy of Place Community Awards Program has been developed to encourage and reward strides toward increasing communities’ attractiveness as places to settle and live through programs such as those that further the arts, wellness, education, and a wide variety of other placemaking efforts.

If your community is currently involved with, or has recently completed, a creative or innovative program of great benefit to your current and/or future residents, please let us know by submitting it for the first Primacy of Place Community Awards.

Applications are due by May 24, 2013 May 31, 2013

To apply, please fill out this electronic submission form.

Prizes will include:

  • An original award designed by Ball State's Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass
  • Two tickets to the Primacy of Place Conference to take place on September 20, 2013
  • Your project prominently displayed on our website
  • An award certificate

An awards ceremony will be held on August 8, 2013, at Ball State University’s Indianapolis Center.

The number of submissions a community may submit is not limited. If you have multiple programs you'd like us to consider, please feel free to fill out multiple applications.
