Here is a list of resources and recommended reading complied by Building Better Communities as well as other organizations that support quality of place as a priority in community economic development efforts. 

• Knight Soul of the Community has as a variety of excellent articles available on its website. We recommend their study, "Knight Soul of the Community 2010 - Why People Love Where they Live and Why it Matters: A National Perspective" which is available there for download. 
• Richard Heupel and Heather Kemper of Building Better Communities have written an opinion piece based off of the 2012 CNBC State Rankings titled, "Businesses: Quality of Place Matters Most"
• Renowned economist, Edward Glaeser, has published a new book entitled Triumph of the City which highlights cities' roles in today's economic society and how they can bring out the best in hunankind.   
• Indianapolis Mayor Gregory A. Ballard's 2013 State of the City Address included a section on the importance of retaining graduates for our communities.  "Today, young people move to the type of city they want to live in, and then build their life there."
