Services for Communities

Building Better Communities can connect you with faculty members and staff experts to help your community or organization identify challenges and create strategic solutions.

We specialize in the following areas of community and economic development:

  • Project prioritization and vision casting.
  • Placemaking best practices.
  • Leadership coaching.
  • Economic impact studies.
  • Local and regional workshops.

Our Primacy of Place initiative supports and celebrates Indiana communities that are placing people first.  Programs include the Primacy of Place Community Awards Program, the annual Primacy of Place Conference, and best practice resources in six key areas of placemaking.

Communities and organizations are also welcome to participate in our Building Better Communities Fellows program, through which teams of students work to develop real-world solutions to real-world problems. We call this immersive learning, the hallmark of a Ball State education.
