Fall 2012 Changes
eBill Information
Our new eBill solution for online bill access and payment is now available. For those who have previously paid bills to Ball State, eBill replaces the Cardinal QuickPay system you may have used. Returning students can still access their Cardinal QuickPay accounts to view outstanding balances from before the launch of eBill but can no longer make payments in the old system. Payments should be made through eBill instead.
With eBill:
- A notification will be sent to your Ball State e-mail account when your current bill is ready to view. You will not receive a paper bill.
- You can add authorized payers, such as family members, to your account. Authorized payers can also receive e-mail notices when the current bill is ready to view.
- You can pay your bill online with an e-check from your savings or checking account or by credit card. (Credit card payment will incur a convenience fee and Visa is not accepted.)
NOTE: Ball State will still accept in-person and mail payments.
Authorized Payers
Because of the change to the new system, all students will need to reauthorize family members as authorized payers, even if authorization was previously provided under the old Cardinal QuickPay system.
To add authorized payers in the new eBill system, Ball State students can visit my.bsu.edu. Sign in using your Ball State username and password and:
- Click the Self Service Banner (SSB) link under Banner links
- Click the Student tab
- Choose eBill
- In the Authorized Payers section, click Add New
- Enter the name, e-mail, and optional fields for the authorized payer and click OK
- Effective August 17, 2012, please visit www.bsu.edu/ebill to view your eBill, enroll in the Installment Payment Plan, and make payments to your account.
Installment Plan
All parents and family members of Ball State students paying semester tuition have two options: Either make payment in full or choose the installment plan, with an enrollment fee of $45 per semester. New for the 2012-13 school year, if you do not make payment in full or enroll in the installment plan, you may be assessed up to $40 in fees per month: a $15 monthly fee if you do not pay your required monthly amount and a $25 monthly fee if your required payment is made later than the due date on the statement.
Excess Credit Hour Fee
The excess credit hour fee is assessed to resident students who have been enrolled for more than four years at Ball State and have not yet attained a degree. Once these students exceed 144 earned credit hours from Ball State, they are charged the Excess Credit Hour Fee, which is $150 per credit hour beyond 144 hours. This fee is assessed in addition to regular tuition charges.
Note: The excess credit hour fee is not assessed within certain university majors that require more than 144 credit hours for graduation.
Proxy Access (Replaces MEG/PEG)
Authorized payers have access to make payments and view billing information online only. They do not automatically have access to the complete student record, which is required by federal law to allow the bursar to fully discuss a student’s bill by phone or e-mail. The proxy system allows students to grant such access is now available. Students may visit my.bsu.edu and sign in using your Ball State username and password:
- Click the Self Service Banner (SSB) link under Banner links.
- Click the Proxy Access tab.
- Click the Proxy Management box.
- Click the Add Proxy button and enter the First Name, Last Name, and e-mail address for your proxy.
- Click on the link to Expand your proxy.
- Complete the Profile tab by selecting a relationship for this proxy, entering a description of the relationship (such as "mom", "spouse", or "employer"), and entering a Passphrase. The Passphrase is a required field if you are going to allow the proxy to have verbal conversations with anyone at Ball State.
- Select the E-Mail Passphrase icon. This will send your proxy an e-mail with their Passphrase included - they will need that for any assistance from the HelpDesk or by any department on campus.
- Complete the Authorization tab by granting item-by-item access, or by selecting the main check boxes next to the major categories to grant your proxy access to all items in each category
