International Wire Transfers

International Payments through eBill and Western Union

Ball State University works with Western Union to give you easier payment options than wire transfer.  Western Union has competitive exchange rates and low fees for payments in many international currencies. Follow the information below to make a payment or see a list of currencies accepted by Western Union.

The amount you wire to pay the student’s Tuition and Room and Board is limited to the amount on the student’s eBill for the current semester, and cannot exceed the total balance.  Wire transfers through Western Union are for payment of the account balance only, and may not be used if the student is enrolled in the Installment Payment Plan. Living and other expenses must be wired to the student’s personal bank account and not through the University.

  • In eBill, select the Make a Payment link.  Select the Payment on Account option and enter the US dollar amount of the payment. Click the Add to Shopping Cart button.  Review the payment amount for accuracy and click the Checkout button.

  • Select the Pay with foreign currency option and click the Continue Checkout button.  Select the country from which the payment will originate, and the currency for the payment.

  • You will see a “real time” exchange rate for your currency. You can see the bill in your currency before you make the payment.

  • Enter the Remitter Name and agree to the Terms and Conditions.  Click the Continue Checkout button.

  • Once you have submitted the payment, you will be provided a receipt page which contains an attached form of instructions.  Print the form and take it to your local bank to start the transfer of funds to Western Union.

  • Please note that the conversion rate quoted on the confirmation page is valid for 72 hours. Western Union must receive the request within 72 hours of your receipt of the currency quote.

  • Western Union will make the payment in US dollars to Ball State University.

If you have paid your account through Western Union and then cancel your registration, we will ask you for bank account information to return the money by wire transfer.  Wire transfer costs will be deducted from your refund.
