Ball State University is a state-assisted institution offering associate, bachelor's, master's, education specialist, and doctoral degrees. The university is in Muncie, Indiana, a community of 78,000, one hour northeast of Indianapolis. Enrollment on campus for fall 2008 was 16,901, of which 15,180 were undergraduate students. Enrollment is traditionally 55 percent female; the minority population is 7 percent. Ball State offers more than 180 degree programs.
