Information systems (IS) is a fast-growing field with opportunities available in nearly every major industry. It is the area of a business where data is processed and then used for decision making. It includes all computers and computer-based products in the business. Information systems specialists act as intermediaries between persons in an organization who have information needs and the computer programmers who write solutions to those needs. IS specialists retrieve, analyze, organize, and disseminate electronic information.
