Wellness focuses on preventing health problems rather than restoring health after illness. Wellness management majors study aspects of a healthy lifestyle as it contributes to health and wellness. They also learn sound management principles, cost containment strategies, and accountability in order to successfully manage wellness programs. Exercise management majors find employment in the private and public sectors as health and fitness advocates and educators, wellness instructors, wellness program directors and managers, and health and fitness salespeople. The study of wellness is also excellent preparation for graduate work in exercise physiology, athletic training, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and other health-related careers. The following occupations represent some career opportunities available to wellness management majors. Some will require additional education.
