Here, you’ll find information regarding both on and off campus employment, graduate assistantships, Federal Work Study and Cardinal Career Link, you gateway to opportunities beyond academia.
Cardinal Career Link can assist you with setting interviews with on-campus recruiters for both local and national employers. You can have your resume evaluated by our experienced staff and posted for employers to review.
The Career Center, in Lucina Hall 220, coordinates all on-campus student employment at Ball State University.
Begin the student employment application process by creating an account on Cardinal Career Link.
Once in Cardinal Career Link, click on the Jobs/On-Campus Student Employment tab at the top of the page to job descriptions, pay rates, and qualifications for the positions available. You can narrow your search by selecting filters or search for off campus jobs.
Federal Work Study may be either on- or off-campus as we have many community service employers who employ students during the academic year. These positions are indicated by "FWS" at the end of the job title.
You can also use Cardinal Career Link to seek available Graduate Assistantships. Not all assistantships are posted on Cardinal Career Link. Most are addressed internally by the departments. Assistantships are also found on our website under Graduate Assistantships.
Upon hire by the university, it is necessary that you complete various paperwork related to your employment. Your federal I-9 must be completed in the Career Center office and you are required by the federal government to provide documentation. Most students use a photo ID with either an original birth certificate or an original social security card. Copies cannot be accepted. A valid passport may also be used. As all students are paid via Direct Deposit, you will also need to bring your banking information (bank routing and account numbers). The forms can be found on our website but must be submitted, in person, in the Career Center, Lucina Hall, Room 220. Please remember to bring your support documentation.
