Larry Markle , director of Disability Services at
State, gives an overview of policies and procedures faculty should know in working with students with disabilities.
Dr. Jacqueline Harris, retired coordinator of Writing and Study Strategies desk at the Learning Center, and Larry Markle discuss the transition to college for students with disabilities and give strategies for students with disabilities on how to ensure a successful transition to college.
Richard Harris , director emeritus of Disability Services at
State, gives an overview of the history of disability access at the post-secondary level.
Carlos Taylor , adaptive computer technology specialist at
State, offers suggestions on how to best accommodate students who are blind or visually impaired in the classroom. He also provides technology options for students with a variety of disabilities.
Dr. David Parker, research associate at Wayne State University and post-secondary transition specialist at the Children’s Resource Group in Indianapolis, gives an overview of Universal Design for Instruction and suggests ways to implement UDI in the classroom.
Dr. Karen Thatcher, assistant professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology, discusses ways to assist college students with an acquired brain injury.
Dr. Claudia Updike, professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology, describes classroom accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Dr. Dom Caristi, associate professor of Telecommunications, was 2010 Faculty Mentor of the Year and describes his relationships with his student mentees.
Dr. Sheryl Burgstahler, founder and director, DO-IT Center and UW Access Technology Center, presents on universal design for student services.
Scott Fogo, director of Autism Service at Easter Seals Crossroads, discusses support for students with autism in college.
Dr. Ellen Lucas, associate director of the Counseling Center, provides suggestions and resources when working with students in distress.
