ARTICLE I: Name
The name of this organization shall be Alliance for Disability Awareness (ADA).
ARTICLE II: Purpose
The purpose of this group shall be to organize a group of students on campus in order to build relationships among the members and promote disability awareness across campus.
ARTICLE III: Membership
Section 1. The membership of ADA shall be limited to students of Ball State University.
Section 2. Membership will not be based on or refused to anyone for reasons of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, or age.
ARTICLE IV: Officers/Advisor
Section 1. Elected Officers.
The elected officers of ADA are the president, vice-president, secretary, and Student Government representative. All positions are elected by the general assembly of ADA members. Elections must be approved by the director of the Disability Services office.
Section 2. Quorum
For meetings in which ADA will be conducting an election, a quorum of three-fourths of the group’s membership must be present in order to conduct a vote. Officers shall be elected according to a two-thirds majority vote of members present and voting.
Section 3. Officer Duties.
a. The President is responsible for scheduling and conducting meetings of ADA. The President is also responsible for working with the DS office to schedule events.
b. The Vice President shall conduct meetings in the absence of the President. The Vice President is also responsible for assisting the President at meetings and events.
c. The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at the meetings.
d. The Student Senate representative will be responsible for attending SGA meetings and bringing information to SGA from ADA.
Section 4. Advisor.
The Advisor shall inform officers and members on topics, rules, and regulations about the club and like issues that need clarification. The duties of the Advisor shall include making educational contributions to ADA. The Advisor is also the liaison to the Office of Student Organizations and Activities. Advisors of ADA will be the director and/or assistant director of the Disabled Student Development office.
ARTICLE V: Executive Committee
The officers, as well as the Faculty Advisor, shall comprise the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI: Meetings
The meeting time of ADA will be determined by the President in conversations with the executive committee and the Advisor. A quorum of three-fourths of the club’s membership must be present at all meetings.
ARTICLE VII: Amendments
For meetings in which the organization will amend the constitution, a majority vote will decide the amendment. The constitution shall include the date that it was last revised. For meetings in which ADA will amend the constitution, a quorum of three-fourths of the group’s membership must be present in order to conduct a vote, with a majority vote of two-thirds necessary to approve the amendment.
ARTICLE VIII: Rules of Order
The meetings shall be governed by Parliamentary Procedure, which are outlined in the latest edition of “Robert’s Rules of Order”. Parliamentary Procedure especially will govern elections and voting.
