Disability Awareness Month

Corban Walker, an Irish artist with a disability, will discuss his signature installations and drawings that confront common notions of scale and substance and earned him the prestigious role of representing his country in the 2011 Venice Biennale. The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) will be open before and after Corban's talk to view the SHIFT exhibit his work is featured in. This event is cosponsored by Disability Services (DS) and DOMA.

Probably best known for her work on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ali has also been recognized for youth advocacy work. She is dedicated to educating and professionally developing young people for leadership roles that will impact their communities. This event is co-sponsored by Alliance for Disability Awareness (ADA), the Multicultural Center, Housing & Residence Life, and Excellence in Leadership.
WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL & GOALBALL
March 1, 15, 22, & 29 | 7 pm | SWRC
Learn about and then play wheelchair basketball and goalball at the Student Wellness and Recreation Center. Sport wheelchairs will be available for use. Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for blind athletes. Participants compete in teams and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents' goal. Players must use the sound of the bell to judge the position and movement of the ball. Eyeshades allow sighted players to compete on an equal footing with blind players. Learn how to play the sport and team up for a game. No experience necessary. The SWRC will provide the equipment to play.

A part of the Career Center's "Empowering, Encouraging, Exploring the World of Work for people with disabilities" series, learn from BSU staff about what benefit packages look like in jobs after graduation.
WORKING WITH DISABILITIES PANEL

This panel is another part of the Career Center's "Empowering, Encouraging, Exploring the World of Work for people with disabilities" series. Come and learn how other people with disabilities have been successful in the workplace. Members of the panel will be BSU faculty and staff with disabilities. There will be time for Q and A so bring your questions!

Join Carlos Taylor as he shares some information about people who are blind and/or visually impaired. There will be time for Q and A so bring your questions!

This is the final part of the Career Center's "Empowering, Encouraging, Exploring the World of Work for people with disabilities" series. This is a mix and mingle event with light refreshments. Learn how to make small talk with others and become comfortable interacting with others in a professional manner.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Conference
Join the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder for a Conference about ASD on March 30. More information, including registration, can be found at this link. This event is co-sponsored by Disability Services and the Department of English.
