Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Fellowship 2013-2014

In order to promote excellent, research-based teaching while helping junior faculty members develop high-quality publications and conference presentations, the Office of Educational Excellence is sponsoring a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Fellowship for up to ten faculty members in their first, second, or third years at Ball State University.

Participants will take part in an intensive week-long SoTL workshop during the spring interim (May 6-10, 2013, 8:30-11:30 a.m.) that will introduce the basics of SoTL and educational research, help individuals develop a research proposal to examine some aspect of their teaching, and identify relevant campus resources to support their research. Participants will then be expected to implement their research plan during the Fall 2013 semester, with the workshop facilitators providing advice and mentoring throughout the project. Finally, participants will report the results of their projects to OEE during the Spring 2014 semester, so we may share them with the University administration and Ball State community.

This fellowship is open to all full-time Ball State faculty members in their first three years at the University; both tenure-track and contract faculty may apply. A stipend of $500 will be provided for those agreeing to participate in this year-long fellowship.

The application must be received by April 26, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. You may submit a printed copy to the OEE office (TC 415) or send an electronic version via e-mail attachment to oee@bsu.edu. You will be notified by April 30, 2013 whether or not you have been selected to participate in the program.
