Excellence in Teaching Award

The Office of Educational Excellence (OEE) coordinates the annual Excellence in Teaching award to recognize faculty dedication and talent in the classroom.

The Excellence in Teaching selection process begins with students nominating their choices of excellent teachers. Among those receiving the highest number of nominations, up to ten, become finalists (this selection process factors in class sizes). Each of the finalists are invited to submit a proposal on making an existing course more innovative with an emphasis on improved student engagement.  The Excellence in Teaching Award Selection Committee convenes to review the Enhanced Course proposals, interview each of the finalists, discuss the nominees, and vote on the final three awardees. This committee consists of three students and four faculty members, including some of the previous award winners listed below.

The Excellence in Teaching award provides each recipient with a plaque, recognition at the Fall Faculty Meeting, a professional development stipend, access to a course enhancement team, and a stipend for participating in a paid lecture series.
