Writing Groups/Support
OEE supports faculty members in the writing component of their scholarship through a variety of activities allowing them to select the format that works best for their individual needs.
Co-sponsored by the
Writing Center and The Office of Educational Excellence, the
Faculty Writing Community is designed to encourage and support scholarly productivity among our newer faculty members by providing a regularly scheduled time and place to work on writing projects. Our purpose is to help you carve a few hours out of your schedule each week so you can sit and write in a quiet, supportive environment. It is not intended to be a place for sharing or reviewing of texts, but rather a place to work on your writing away from all your other obligations and distractions.
OEE frequently sponsors a reading group with a focus on writing—a type of hybrid between a book discussion group and a writing group. Using texts such as
How to Write a Lot: A Practical Guide for Academic Writing and
Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks, participants are led by a faculty colleague with extensive scholarly writing experience.
