Our Mission

The Office of Educational Excellence (OEE) encourages reflective practice in order to achieve effective instruction resulting in scholarly dissemination of teaching and learning accomplishments.

Goals

Goals central to the Office of Educational Excellence mission:

1. Action plan for teaching through curriculum development and course design
2. Instruction that is pedagogically sound and technology-enhanced
3. Assessment of student learning
4. Research to reframe teaching

Strategies

OEE’s goals are attained through a variety of formats:

• Teaching Consultations and Intervention Services – Group and individual teaching consultations are structured to meet specific needs of the department and/or faculty member. Intervention services are available to advance one’s teaching.
• Faculty Learning Communities – FLCs are cross-disciplinary groups of 6-10 faculty members who engage in an active, collaborative, and year-long program focusing on a teaching and learning issue.
• Workshops and Seminars – Workshops and seminars are designed to explore all facets of teaching in a single workshop session or two- and three-part series. Some topics are offered in a more traditional face-to-face setting, allowing for interaction and discussion, while others are presented in an online format, allowing for viewing at a time most convenient for the faculty member.
