What is the academic background of the first-year students?

The average high school GPA of Fall 2012 new first-year students was 3.35. The percentage of these students who graduated in the top 25% of their high school graduation class was 48%, and the percentage who graduated in the top 10% of their high school graduating class was 18%. The 25th and 75th percentiles for the SAT critical reading and mathematics scores for these students were both 480 and 580, respectively.


How diverse is the student body?

Among all 16,323 Fall 2012 undergraduate students, 2,527 (16%) were domestic students of color or international. Among the 3,556 Fall 2012 new first-year students, 573 (16%) were domestic students of color or international.


How many faculty and staff members work at Ball State?

For Fall 2012, following the definitions used in the AAUP Faculty Compensation Survey, Ball State had 938 full-time instructional faculty members, including 515 men, 423 women, 458 tenured, 193 tenure-track, 287 non-tenure-track, 222 professors, 229 associate professors, 312 assistant professors, and 175 instructors.
