Since 2001, second-year students have been surveyed to gain information about their development and learning around the time of their transition from the University Core Curriculum to classes in their major program. Beginning in 2007, the Making Achievement Possible Survey (MAP-Works), designed to reveal student strengths and talents as well as areas for improvement, has been used to gain this information. MAP-Works is administered each fall to Ball State second-year students.
