Advanced Crisis Communications Training
In 2008, Ball State University formed a working relationship with the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the university $2.5 million to create innovative on-site and online training courses for supervisors in 9-1-1 call centers nationwide. The university's Advanced Crisis Communication Training program (ACCT) is working under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to bolster local-level preparedness for both natural and manmade disasters across the nation.The team continues to expand and enhance the available training opportunities.
The Digital Corps has aided the ACCT team in the design, development and implementation of the program's web-based training (WBT) modules. Work on these modules included the creation of original graphical and photographic elements, organizing and structuring HTML content, and implementing Flash and JavaScript based interactivity.
