Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Theory, School of Music
Tenure-track faculty position available August 16, 2013.
Responsibilities: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory; coordinating the undergraduate aural-skills curriculum; overseeing graduate theses and dissertations; actively engaging in scholarship; fulfilling service expectations. Additional areas of instruction could include graduate-level theory pedagogy, organ performance, counterpoint, Schenkerian analysis, semiotics, studies of identity and/or ethnicity in music.
Minimum qualifications: ABD by August 16, 2013; one year of experience teaching aural skills; evidence of potential for successful scholarship.
Preferred qualifications: completed doctorate by August 16, 2013; experience teaching freshman and sophomore-level aural theory courses; experience supervising graduate teaching assistants; demonstrated evidence of significant scholarly activity, including refereed conference presentations and/or publications.
