Assistant Professor-Lighting Designer, Department of Theatre and Dance
Tenure-track faculty position available August 16, 2013, in a NAST/NASD accredited program.
Responsibilities: teach courses in lighting design, lighting technology, stagecraft, design awareness, and other related design courses at the undergraduate level; supervise student lighting designers in assigned productions (including four dance concerts per season); design selected department productions; collaborate with theatre and dance faculty, staff, and students in facilitating the design/tech production program.
Minimum qualifications: master’s degree in theatre completed by August 1, 2013; one year of teaching experience; experience as a lighting designer in professional venues; excellent communication and organizational skills; computer competency in stage lighting applications; ability to work collegially within a liberal arts setting.
Preferred qualifications: MFA in lighting design; three years of teaching experience at the university/college level; experience with digital media and/or expertise in teaching online or blended courses.
The Department maintains an active role in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and the Kennedy Center American College Dance Festival (KCACDF).
