Tenure-track position available August 15, 2014.
Responsibilities: teaching voice lessons within the department’s musical theatre option; serving as a musical theatre accompanist; teaching additional courses in sight singing, basic musicianship, and ensemble singing; participating in the advising, auditioning, and committee work of an academic department. Other teaching and service assignments will be made as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications: master’s degree or higher in voice or theatre related field (to be completed by August 1, 2014); substantial experience as a voice teacher and musical theatre accompanist; ability to work collegially within a liberal arts setting.
Preferred qualifications: MFA in musical theatre or DMA in vocal performance (to be completed by August 1, 2014); substantial experience as a musical conductor, voice coach, and/or stage director of musicals; three years of teaching at the college/university level; soprano or mezzo-soprano; proven record as an established professional within the musical theatre field.
The department is a BFA/BA/BS undergraduate-only program and maintains an active role in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and supports the continuing development of the department’s Senior Showcase Programs in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Programs are NAST/NASD accredited.
