Assistant Professor, Department of Geography

Tenure-track faculty position available August 15, 2014.  

Responsibilities: teaching cartography and other geography courses; supervising student research; seeking external funding; advising students. 

Minimum qualifications:  Ph.D. in geography or closely related disciplines (ABD will be considered but Ph.D. must be completed by August 15, 2014); demonstrated commitment to quality teaching, research, and service; extensive expertise in the most recent cartographic software packages.  

Preferred qualifications:  Ph.D. in geography or closely related disciplines with specialization in computer cartography, geovisualization, and geospatial technologies; demonstrated ability to teach and conduct research in area of interest.

The department offers BA, BS and MS degrees in geography and includes newly renovated teaching and research labs, as well as a suite of the latest geospatial software with ESRI and Adobe Creative Suite packages.  The growing GIScience program offers opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students.
