Responsibilities: administer the operational, budgetary and personnel functions for the Office of Payroll and Employee Benefits; provide leadership oversight, administration, and regulatory compliance for the university’s payroll and employee benefits operation to include but not limited to: payroll processing, administration and reconciliation, healthcare plan design and administration, mandatory/voluntary benefits, retirement plan administration, work/life programs and benefit policy administration and record keeping.
Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree or higher in human resource management, business administration, or other related field; eight years of experience in payroll and/or benefits management, three of which must be in a managerial position; proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office; excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills; strong working knowledge of ERISA, DOL, IRS rules relating to payroll, benefits, and retirement plan administration, including PPACA, FMLA, and other pertinent payroll and benefits legislation.
Preferred qualifications: master’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or other related field; at least five years of managerial experience overseeing payroll and/or benefit functions; experience managing healthcare plans and/or retirement plans; payroll and/or benefits accounting experience; CPA, CPP or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS); knowledge of Banner HR/Payroll system; exceptionally strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; results oriented leadership style; ability to work under pressure and make quality decisions in a timely manner; strong team building and employee coaching skills; ability to work effectively with executives and senior management on complex issues; ability to manage unique and complex projects in a fast-paced work environment; strong technical and problem solving skills; excellent customer service skills.
