Responsibilities: administer and manage all Outdoor Pursuit programs and operations (trips and workshops, climbing center, and rental/retail area); ensure the health and well-being of all staff and patrons due to the unique offsite nature of programming; serve to provide program staff management, facility coverage, and supervision of special events as needed.
Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree; experience in outdoor recreation programming; at least one year of professional experience (a two-year graduate assistant position is equivalent to one year of professional experience); risk management experience; current CPR and first aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days; Wilderness First Responder certification; possess understanding of basic Leave No Trace principles.
Preferred qualifications: master’s degree; two or more years of professional experience in college/university recreation programming; broad-based experience in at least eight of the following competencies: backpacking, hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, mountain/trail biking, bike maintenance, fly fishing, gym climbing-top rope/lead, rock climbing/bouldering, or trip planning; certification in at least one of the following: American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) or Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA), Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI), American Canoe Association (ACA) kayak/canoe.
