Associate Director of Public Safety/Assistant Chief of Police, Department of Public Safety

Professional position available July 1, 2014.  

Responsibilities:  serve as Deputy Chief of the University Police with responsibility in carrying out orders of the Chief with direct supervision of all activities of law enforcement and public safety for the university; develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs with the Director to ensure the safety and security of university students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property; supervise the Office of Parking Services personnel as directed; participate in university and community committees and student groups as assigned. 

Minimum qualifications:  bachelor’s degree; seven years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience; at least two years of supervisory experience; certified as a police officer in the state of Indiana or have demonstrated ability by possessing comparable state law enforcement certification elsewhere and able to be certified by the state of Indiana within the first year of employment.  

Preferred qualifications:  advanced specialty training in criminal investigation and other police functions; experience in campus law enforcement; familiarity with multi-agency task forces and crime prevention/public education programming in a college or university setting.
