Responsibilities: manage the university’s development programs, including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, annual giving, and donor relations; serve as the senior fund raising professional and chief major gifts officer with responsibility for directing a diverse fund raising operation, including volunteers, other fund raising professionals, supervisory personnel, and support staff.
Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree; at least eight years of experience in successful fund raising, including annual giving and major gifts; experience in raising funds from individuals as well as corporations and foundations; demonstrated success as a creative and effective manager with expertise in personnel management, strategic planning, program implementation, and fiscal planning and accountability; experience in academic environment, preferably in a public university; willingness and ability to travel; possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
Preferred qualifications: master’s degree; experience with planning and implementing a comprehensive campaign; exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent Ball State University to internal and external constituents; supportive of the mission, philosophy and values of Ball State University; action oriented; ability to empower others and encourage and support their success; demonstrated success in developing an effective volunteer structure; strong written and verbal communication skills.
