Director, Economic Development Policy, Building Better Communities, (Position located in Indianapolis)

Professional contract position available July 1, 2013.  

Major responsibilities:  increase Ball State’s influence in the development and execution of state and local economic development policies; increase the number, relevance, and visibility of the university’s outreach and engagement projects with emphasis on community-based economic development.  

Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree; graduate of Economic Development Institute or a combination of programs of equal recognition and rigor; ten years of experience in economic development, community development, or directly related area; understanding of community, state, and federal economic development programs and activities; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of economic and community development practices and principles; ability to work effectively with divergent groups; excellent instruction, training program organization, and facilitation skills; excellent interpersonal skills.   

Preferred qualifications:  experience in university/adult education environment; practical experience working effectively with local economic/community development organizations; experience working with state and federal government agencies; experience brokering education, training, research, and economic and community development services.  Candidates for contract professional searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
