Burris Laboratory School and The Indiana Academy of Science, Mathematics and Humanities are public schools that comprise the two schools operated by Ball State University with a combined enrollment of approximately 900 students. The primary mission of the K-12 Laboratory School is to mentor education majors along with engaging with university faculty in meaningful research that yields high quality education curriculum and instructional practices. The Indiana Academy is the only 11th and 12th grade residential high school in Indiana serving gifted and talented youth.
Professional position available July 1, 2014, for the fiscal year.
Major responsibility: provide oversight of Burris Laboratory School and the Indiana Academy by working closely with the administration of the two schools.
Minimum qualifications: master’s or educational specialist degree from a regionally accredited institution; hold or qualify for an Indiana superintendent license; three years of public school superintendent experience; three years of principal or assistant principal experience; three years of teaching experience; experience in curriculum development and educational research; demonstrated evidence of exemplary leadership and consensus building skills; eligible to teach undergraduate or graduate courses in Teachers College.
Preferred qualifications: doctorate from a regionally accredited university; higher education teaching experience; experience working in a laboratory or residential gifted and talented school; successful grant writing and fundraising experience.
