New Professional Employee Orientation
Professional employees hired near the beginning of the academic year will receive an invitation to attend a large orientation session sponsored by the Office of the Associate Provost and Dean of University College. This session is usually scheduled a couple days before the first day of classes.
Professional employees will also attend a New Employee Orientation session sponsored by University Human Resource Services and Payroll and Employee Benefits.
New Employee Orientation (Initial)
New staff, service, and professional employees will attend an orientation session scheduled usually every other Tuesday morning, lasting approximately three hours. The purpose of the initial orientation is to ensure every new employee receives a positive introduction to Ball State University. The employee's first few weeks-even the first day-can have a profound effect on the quality of the work relationship, establishment and maintenance of open channels of communications, and promoting loyalty, job performance, longevity, and overall satisfaction. New employees will receive instructions giving the location of the orientation session and start time.
New Employee Orientation (Six-Month)
After approximately six months of joining Ball State, in October and April, new employees are invited to attend a follow-up orientation. During this three-hour session, employees will receive informative presentations about Wellness, Recreation Services, Payroll and Employee Benefits, Learning and Development, History of Ball State, and other topics. Each new employee will be notified of the session she/he is expected to attend.
