VNIC Mission Statement
The Video Network Information Center (VNIC), provides video conference services for Ball State University. The principles that are the foundation of the VNIC are: provide service in a timely manner; to inform faculty, staff, and administrators about the use of video conferencing technology; and to assist in providing an effortless solution for faculty either in their scheduled classrooms, or by scheduling specific video conferencing rooms on campus that will meet the needs of the instructor.
Researching the ever changing technologies used in video conferencing are reviewed, and updated on a continual base, to meet the needs of Ball State University. Finding low cost video conferencing solutions which allow for faculty to mentor students or work collaboratively with professors in their fields of knowledge throughout the United States or internationally.
VNIC is continuing to develop training materials that help further the understanding and implementation of video conferencing.
Currently the VNIC can support consumer grade applications such as: Skype, iChat, GoTo Meeting HD Faces and other non H.323 application software. We can assist in the configuration of the Logitech camera and necessary audio microphone for these applications.
