Guidance for Faculty Members

Faculty members are encouraged to accommodate students who are ill with flu, understanding they will need to miss class while ill. On average, the illness lasts approximately 7 days.

The Health Center has a long-established policy that it does not verify illnesses with sick notes. Please do not refer students to the Health Center for this purpose. Referrals to the Health Center or a personal physician to meet medical needs are always encouraged.

Faculty who may have the flu should see Guidance for Employees.
