Purchasing a Permit
All parking fines must be paid in full in order to purchase a parking permit.
Parking Services may refuse to issue a parking permit if:
- The person applying has delinquent fines
- The vehicle is owned or operated by another student or employee
- The parking privileges of the applicant have been revoked
- The vehicle is too large to fit in a single parking space
To purchase a parking permit, bring the following items to the Office of Parking Services:
-
Photo ID: Driver's License or Ball State ID
-
Ball State ID Number
-
Vehicle information: You will need to know your license plate number, plate type and expiration date; and the vehicle make, color, year, and registered owner. This information can usually be found on your vehicle registration. If you are purchasing a motorcycle permit, you will need to bring the vehicle registration with you. You cannot register a vehicle that belongs to another student, employee, or family member of another student or employee. Doing so will result in revocation of parking privileges.
-
Payment: We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Make checks payable to Ball State University. We do not accept credit card payments over the phone; they must be made in person. Some employees may be eligible for payroll deduction. Permits that are paid for with payroll deduction are non-refundable. Housing and Residence Life will pay the registration fee for students who are on the premium plan. This does not include additional housing or restricted fees.
-
For Disabled Driver Permits: Off-campus students, residence hall students, and employees must bring proper documentation to receive a disabled driver permit.
Permit Exchanges
If you already have a permit and are upgrading your permit or making an exchange, be sure to bring your current permit with you. A new permit will not be issued until we receive the one you already have.
