Employee Tuition Remission

Spouse/Qualified Domestic Partner/and Dependent Children Tuition Remission

  • Student must be a spouse, qualified domestic partner or dependent of the employee. 
  • Employee and student must both complete required forms for each session that tuition remission is desired. (See Tuition Remission Form (PDF).

*A current Affidavit of Domestic Partner Relationship must be on file with PEB.

Benefit

The contingent portion of the general fee will be waived for qualified dependents. They will be required to pay the dedicated fee, special course fees, audit fees and all other special fees. Check with the Bursar's Office for a current fee schedule. 

Tuition remissions under this program are limited to the more restrictive of the following two limits:

  1. 134 credit hours of undergraduate study; or
  2. For students initially entering as a first-time, full-time Freshman, four (4) academic years.

 
Eligibility

Employee must have been employed for 12 consecutive months if they are regular full-time staff or service employee, professional continuing contract or tenure/tenure track faculty.

Employee must have been employed for 24 consecutive months if they are contract faculty/professional. If contract faculty do not continue benefits during July and August by signing a Continuation of Benefits Form, they will be considered to have had a break in service and will need to complete 24 months of employment.

Retiree Benefit

Benefit
Tuition remission for undergraduate or graduate courses equal to the greater of contingent portion of general fees and special course fees, or 50% of total. Retiree must complete the required forms for each semester or session that tuition remission is requested. (See Retiree Tuition Remission form (PDF).

Eligibility

  • Must be an eligible Ball State University retiree
  • Staff or service personnel granted retirement status
  • Faculty or professional personnel granted emeritus status
