Clemency Policy

Academic clemency is forgiveness of past academic course work.

A notation of C will indicate credit hours counted for past course work where the original grade was C or better. A notation of N will indicate credit hours forfeited for all course work with a grade C- or below. You should submit an application to our office in Lucina Hall, room B43, and meet with the director of Registration and Academic Progress.

You must:
  • have a five year gap in academic work at Ball State
  • be registered for the current term
  • fill out an application and return to our office

The decision is final and irreversible. This is a one-time only process. All other academic policies of Ball State University apply. All grades earned will remain on transcript. A notation on the transcript of C or N will indicate those counted credit hours or not counted credit hours.
