ID Information

ID Numbers
If you are looking for your Ball State ID number, you can view it at my.bsu.edu. Click on Self-Service Banner, then click Personal Information tab. You will need your Ball State username and password to login. A unique number is generated when you become a student in order to protect your privacy.

ID Cards
Your first ID card is issued after you have registered for classes. If you registered for on-campus classes you will need to come to our office in Lucina Hall, room B43, and present a picture ID such as a driver's license or credit card with your photo.  Your registration in classes will be verified, your picture will be taken at that time, and an ID card will be created.

Your ID card, determined by your status at the university, allows you access or amenities in several areas: the library, fitness and recreation, residence halls, theatrical venues, and many more. Do not mutilate, punch holes, or destroy your ID card or you may have problems using it in card readers across campus and will be directed to our office to obtain a replacement.

If you are registered in online or distance education classes, you may request a distance education ID card.

Replacement ID Card
If you lose your ID card, you may obtain a new ID card in the Office of the Registrar in Lucina Hall. All Ball State ID cards have a $10 replacement fee. You will pay at the cashier’s window of the Bursar's office in the basement of Lucina Hall. The receipt of payment must be presented to the Registrar's office (picture ID window), at which time you may request the original picture or a new picture be taken for the ID card.

Worn or Cracked ID Card Replacements
If you have a worn or cracked ID card you should bring it to the Office of the Registrar in Lucina Hall to be evaluated. Replacement of cracked, worn, or misused cards will be evaluated on a card-by-card basis. You must surrender your old card in order to obtain a new card.

Reactivating an Old ID Card
If you misplaced an ID card and later find it, do not destroy it. Your old card becomes inactive once you have a new card. The old card, if in good condition, can be reactivated at the cashier's window in the Bursar's office for a fee of $3. It will be a savings of $7 to reactivate the old card instead of getting a new ID for $10. You may have only one active picture ID card at a time.
