Undergraduate Course Repeats

You may repeat a course once in order to replace a course grade of C or below. The original and second grade will remain on your academic record (official transcripts), but the second grade that you receive will be used in figuring your grade point average (GPA). In order to get the adjusted GPA, you must repeat the course at Ball State University. You cannot transfer in a new grade from another college or university as only passing credits will transfer to Ball State University.

If it is necessary to take a course to meet program requirements, you may do so as many times as necessary. However, all grades except the first one received in any course you repeat will be used in computing your GPA. Your academic record (official transcripts) will show all grades that you received, but a notation will indicate that a course was repeated.

It is possible that your DAPR will display a different GPA than what is seen on your transcript. A DAPR is used to display progress toward degree completion, while a transcript is a complete academic history of enrollment. Should you have any questions about your GPAs not matching, please see your advisor.
