Identity Theft

Identity theft occurs when your personal information, like your Social Security number, medical information or financial information is used without your permission to fraudulently benefit others. Online hackers and information thieves often use methods like phishing, pharming, malware and spam to get your information.  Visit the security awareness site to learn more about these methods.

It is important you take steps to protect yourself from identity theft.

If you believe you are a victim of identity theft, or had an item such as a wallet or purse stolen that contained confidential information like a Social Security number, be sure to contact the Ball State Police.
