Password Recovery and Security
Passwords are a critical part of information and network security. Passwords serve to protect user accounts but a poorly chosen password, if compromised, could put your information and the entire network at risk. Keeping passwords confidential can help protect you from unauthorized access to your
personal information and
identity theft.
Learn more about securing your password.
It’s important that you take the responsibility and appropriate steps in creating a strong, secure password. It’s equally important that you protect your password at all times.
In being responsible you should NOT use one password for all applications. It would be nice, but unfortunately different networks, Web sites and applications don’t provide a single sign-on. So we use simple things like our pet’s name, our children’s names, birthdates and basic personal and employment information. To avoid that pitfall use the following techniques.
If you have difficulty remembering all your passwords there are a number of free password management tools such as
LastPass,
RoboForm,
KeePass and the list goes on available for downloading.
