IRBNet Aspire FAQ

Q: How do I download a form and add it to my proposal?

A: Once you have created a new project in IRBNet, click the “Designer” button on the left‐hand side of your screen. In Step #1: Select ‘Ball State University Aspire Grant Program, Muncie, IN’ from the ‘Select a Library’ dropdown menu. In the ‘Select a Document’ drop‐down menu, you will find the Aspire cover sheets and budget forms. Select the correct form as dictated in the guidelines and click the ‘Download’ button. Save the form to your local machine and complete the form. Please note: All forms are Adobe Reader compatible - PDF forms may be completed, saved, and edited in Adobe Reader. Please click here to make sure that you have the most up to date version of Adobe Reader.  

In Step # 2 Upload your completed documents by clicking on 'Add New Document' button.


Q: What should I do if I have difficulties filling in the Adobe form? 

A: Please click here to make sure that you have the most up to date version of Adobe Reader. If you still have difficulties after you’ve downloaded Adobe Reader, please email the Aspire Program to request an alternate version of the form.


Q: How do I let my mentor sign off on my proposal?

A: In order for your mentor to sign off on your proposal you need to share it with them in IRBNet. For instructions on sharing a proposal in IRBNet, please refer to step 5 in the Creating a New Proposal Instructions.


Q: What do I do if my mentor is not registered in IRBNet?

A: If you mentor is not registered in the IRBNet system, they will need to go through the process of registering before you are able to share your proposal with them. Please send an email to your mentor and request that they register for IRBNet. Registration instructions can be found by clicking here.


Q: Why is my proposal being withdrawn?

A: If you submit your proposal to the wrong committee, you will be notified and asked to resubmit to the proper committee. The initial proposal that was submitted to the wrong committee will be withdrawn from IRBNet (you will receive an email to this effect).


Q: How did I submit to the wrong committee?

A: Please note that there are several Ball State University Committees to submit your proposal to. Use the table below to determine which committee to submit your proposal to. If you submit your proposal to the wrong committee, you will be asked to withdraw your proposal and resubmit to the proper committee.

Q: I received an email from IRBNet indicating that the committee reached a decision on my proposal. How do I access the decision letter?

A: Your decision letter is available through IRBNet. In order to view your letter, you will need to log into IRBNet and select the project in which a decision has been reached. Click on the review details button and your letter will be available in the ‘Board documents’ section of your submission.
