Program Features

When you enroll in our master of arts (MA) program in student affairs administration in higher education, you’ll receive a comprehensive education that combines theory with hands-on graduate assistantships and internships.

We’ll help you understand the issues facing college students today and the important role student affairs administrators have in enhancing learning both in and out of the classroom. Our faculty members bring their research background and practical experience guiding the daily functions of Ball State’s Division of Student Affairs to the classroom to enrich your educational experience.

This degree program provides you with the general knowledge of how to facilitate learning and provide service as well as the experience you need to be a professional in a specific student service area. Our graduates are ready to work in a wide range of college and university academic and student support services, such as Housing and Residence Life, Student Life, Career Center, and Student Health.

When you complete this program you’ll understand:
  • the developmental process and needs of college students
  • learning and service roles of academic and student services
  • contemporary issues in American higher education
  • how to apply theory to practice
  • how to apply research, evaluation, and assessment to practice
