Web Site Development Process

Our Web development process begins with a discovery meeting. This meeting helps us learn more about your needs, gives you a chance to ask questions, and gives us the information we need to begin our work together.

Our overall process is designed to:

  • align with the strategic goals and objectives of the university
  • address the needs of your Web audience
  • meet your unit's communication goals

Below are the five key steps for all new sites or those being relaunched:

Phase 1: Discovery

  • Discuss goals and objectives for the Web site
  • Inventory/review existing content
  • Review competitors and/or aspirant programs

Phase 2: Planning

  • Information architecture
  • Web strategy
  • Production schedule

Phase 3: Creating

  • Content
  • Design
  • Photography

Phase 4: Building and launching

Phase 5: Maintaining

  • While individual units are responsible for keeping their sites up-to-date, University Marketing and Communications will continue to review Web sites and offer ongoing information and advice to assist Web site managers.

If you have questions, please e-mail the Web Managing Editor Julie Tuttle.
