News and Media
Media relations team members work closely to craft high-profile national media pitches on especially interesting or timely subjects. At the same time, they respond to hundreds of requests received each year for information about the university, its campus, faculty, students, and programs.
Contact between Ball State University and local, regional, and national news media is coordinated through a team of
media relations managers within University Marketing and Communications.
Through news releases, media advisories, web postings, and other efforts, the team informs reporters, producers, and editors about a variety of newsworthy topics and events on campus. These may include:
- important decisions of the president and board of trustees
- the appearance of distinguished speakers
- the pursuit or results of faculty/student collaborative research
- other academic and athletic accomplishments of students
- administration and faculty views on developing issues or trends
- announcements of performing arts events
Most news stories are directed through two web-based news channels: the News Center, which is the online source for university-related news, and the Communications Center, the website for campus news and events.
