Stephen leads the university's marketing efforts. He oversees communications that convey the brand messages and essence of Ball State, ensuring that they reflect the positioning of the university, differentiate it among its peers, and are aligned with the strategic plan. He leads the talented marketing communications team, which includes communications managers, graphic designers, and the editorial manager.
Stephen previously served University Marketing and Communications as operations manager and as a communications manager. In those roles, he led creative teams, developed and implemented strategic communications plans, aligned resources, and developed organizational processes that enabled staff to agilely and efficiently build Ball State's reputation. He co-led a cross-functional communications and marketing team in launching and managing Ball State's institutional social media presence, which accumulated the largest Facebook audience in the university's athletic conference, and consulted campus clients on their social media efforts.
Before returning to his alma mater, Stephen worked as a journalist, serving newspapers in the Chicago area and central Indiana markets.
