Gifts to United Way of Delaware County help fund Big Brothers Big Sisters. Here’s one of the many success stories your gift makes possible:
Josh entered a United Way of Delaware County funded program when he was eight years old. For most of his childhood, he lived with his grandmother because his mother wasn’t able to provide him with a stable home and his father was never involved in his life.
When his grandmother passed away, Josh had nowhere to go but with his mother. He spent the remainder of his childhood moving from one place to another. Through it all, his Big Brother was at his side, being a constant in his life and giving him the opportunity to just be a kid. Josh’s Big Brother kept him motivated in his schoolwork and Josh repaid him by being the first in his family to graduate from high school.
Josh recently joined the Air Force, after much thought and many discussions about it with his Big Brother. When he graduated from Basic in Texas, his Big Brother and his Big Brother’s wife were there to support him. Josh is now living in Japan experiencing all that life has to offer.
Whenever complimented on his success, Josh is always quick to give some credit for where he is today to his Big Brother, who has truly become his family. – Provided by Jenni Marsh, CEO, Delaware County United Way
