Athletics
The women's volleyball Cardinals earn their eighth Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season title in 2010 and their eighth NCAA Tournament berth in 2011. They have also won six MAC Tournament championships.
The softball Cardinals earned the 2013 MAC regular season title, their fourth since 2009. In the 2010 season, they tied for first place in the MAC and won the MAC Tournament championship. Plus, they qualified for the NCAA regional tournament.
Our women's cross country team’s 2012 multiyear Academic Progress Rate was in the top 10 percent, with a perfect score of 1,000. APR is a measure of each team's academic performance, accounting for eligibility, retention, and graduation.
Ball State earned an A grade and a perfect score in the 2010-11 Black Coaches and Administrators report card on hiring football head coaches.
The Ball State athletics program received the MAC's Institutional Academic Achievement Award for the 2008-09 academic year. The award recognizes the school with the highest student-athlete grade point average.
In the 2008-09 season, the women's basketball Cardinals had their best record, 26-9. The team won its third straight MAC West title, its first MAC Tournament championship, and its first NCAA Division I Tournament berth. The Cardinals stunned the women's basketball world with their first-round win in the NCAA tournament against two-time defending national champion, the University of Tennessee.
