The Miller College of Business is accredited by AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—and was the first state-supported institution in Indiana to hold separate AACSB accreditation for the accounting program.

Entrepreneurial Management

  • U.S. News & World Report has ranked our entrepreneurial management program among the top 15 since 1999.
  • U.S. News & World Report in 2011 listed Military 2 Market (M2M), part of our entrepreneurial management program, first among “10 College Classes That Impact the Outside World,” putting us in the same company as Villanova and Carnegie Mellon universities. M2M, a partnership between Ball State and the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane Division, in southern Indiana, also received the Partnership Award from the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) Midwest Region.
  • Our entrepreneurial management program was named the National Model Undergraduate Program at the 2013 United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) conference. Ball State is the first university to win the award twice in the history of the organization. 
  • Entrepreneur/The Princeton Review ranked our entrepreneurial management program in the top 25 in 2009.
  • Students may receive assistance in starting their own businesses through a business incubator program that fosters entrepreneurial activity in the community, particularly within the growing communications and information technology sectors.

Accounting

  • 2010 is the second year the Annual Survey of Accounting Professors by Public Accounting Report ranked our accounting programs in the top 25 among the nation's midsize colleges and universities. Our undergraduate program ranked 19th while our graduate program placed 24th.

Insurance and Risk Management

  • Our risk management and insurance program ranked third in the nation in 2009 for total university associate certified risk managers (UACRMs), an early certification program designed by the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research to introduce students to the internationally recognized certified risk manager (CRM) professional designation.
  • Risk Management magazine in 2009 recognized our risk management and insurance program as a notable program, pointing out the real-world experience our students receive. It is one of about five dozen in accredited business schools in the United States. 
  • The risk management, insurance, and actuarial science program is a collaborative effort between Miller College and the College of Sciences and Humanities that provides opportunities for research and interaction with industry.

Information Systems

  • Ball State information systems students have consistently received top awards at the International Business Informatics Challenge (IBIC) since 2006. Read about our 2010 winner and our 2011 winning team.
  • The Ball State Student Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) received a 2009-10 Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (SCOPA) from the national organization, placing our chapter in the top 3 percent.
  • Students in information systems have built a powerful cluster computer and have used it to test complex software for the U.S. Department of Defense and to regularly work with area businesses.
  • A state-of-the-art networking lab teaches students how to protect computer networks and other information systems from cyber-attacks. The lab features the latest equipment, providing a technologically advanced setting for students to manage all types of networks.

Marketing and Management 

  • The human resource management major is one of only three such programs offered at universities in Indiana.
  • Our H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling is one of only 31 such programs in the nation and has been certified by the Professional Society for Sales and Marketing Training (SMT) for its high educational standards. Its annual Sales Career Fair is one of the largest of its kind in the country.

MBA

  • Our master of business administration (MBA) program was ranked a "Best Buy," sixth among online, AACSB-accredited MBA programs in 2012 by the consumer advocacy group GetEducated.com.
  • U.S. News & World Report ranked Ball State eighth among its 2013 best online MBA programs for veterans.
  • In U.S. News & World Report's 2012 Top Online Education Programs rankings, our online graduate programs in business were ranked eighth for faculty credentials and training.
