Facilities and Resources

  • The Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center received a 2012 Outstanding Sports Facilities award from the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. The association says each award winner is a model for other collegiate recreational facilities.
  • The Helen B. and Martin D. Schwartz Special Collections and Digital Complex at Bracken Library features cutting-edge technology. The complex houses a Microsoft Surface computer, digital learning pods with high-powered computers, the digital archives viewing room, and the digital newsstand, enabled to receive television broadcasts from around the world, including networks from Saudi Arabia, China, India, and Korea.
  • Bracken Library, located in the heart of campus, has access to about 2.3 million books, periodicals, microforms, audiovisual materials, software, government publication maps, musical scores, archival records, and other information sources. Staffed with professional librarians, the library also offers wireless connectivity.
  • The 2012 book College Success for Students with Physical Disabilities listed Ball State as a university that goes above and beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Service and Achievement

  • Ball State has been named four times since 2009 to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement.
  • Ball State’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) received the 2011 Gold Star Award. NSCS is an honors organization for high achieving first- and second-year students.
  • The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) recognized Ball State’s Panhellenic Council as one of the top 33 in the country with a 2013 Award of Achievement.
